They owned three commercial fishing boats in Boynton Beach, and Pipes served as Mayor of Boynton Beach for about 6 months in 1962. Pipes married Sarah Beatrice Wolz in 1918; they were divorced c. 1935. He then married Jean Rider (1913-1999). Jean Rider and her sister Loma performed as a “sister act” of singing and dancing at many venues throughout the Midwest in the 1930s before her marriage to Pipes in 1940. After moving to Boynton Beach, Jean Pipes was very active in the community, especially with the Republican party.

Scope and Content Note: Chiefly awards given to J. Willard Pipes. Also publicity photographs of the “Rider Sisters,” c. 1935 and a small amount of material concerning the development of the Park Shores Manor apartment complex (Manor Drive, Boynton Beach, Florida).
