Historical Note: Stanley Eugene Sheets (1925-2003) was a musician and photographer who moved to Boynton Beach from Detroit in 1957. His well composed images documented much of life in Boynton Beach and were published in many newspapers.

A classically trained pianist, Sheets performed as a concert pianist, an orchestra leader, and a jazz musician with the Stan Sheets Trio.

His photographs frequently appeared in Palm Beach County publications in the 1960s and 1970s. He was the primary photographer for the Boynton Beach Star, which was published from 1961 to 1968. In December 1964, he won the Dexter National Color Photographer of the Month prize.

Scope and Content Note: Chiefly black and white 8”x10” photographs featuring chiefly unidentified portraits and candids of local events. A significant number of these were published in the Boynton Beach Star, which was in operation between 1961 and 1968.
