[ARCHIVED] State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) Local Housing Assistance Plan (LHAP) For Fiscal Years

Notice is hereby given that the City of Boynton Beach State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) Local Housing Assistance Plan (LHAP) was amended by Resolution R23-089, adding two new Housing Strategies:

1.    Emergency Repair-Limited Rehabilitation

2.    Rapid Re-Housing

The Emergency Repair-Limited Rehabilitation strategy offers a grant for needed emergency home repairs of up to $20,000.00 dollars to the Very-Low and Low-income Elderly as defined by F.S. 420.0004 (8) and/or disabled as defined by F.S. 420.0004 (7) homeowners.  Income-eligible homeowners must have owned and homesteaded the property as his/her principal residence for at least one year prior to applying for assistance. The homeowner must intend to reside in the property for at least one year after the rehabilitation. The Emergency Repair-Limited Rehabilitation grant assistance is one time only per applicant/per address. Applicant(s) assisted through the Emergency Repair-Limited Rehabilitation Program cannot receive additional SHIP assistance during a period of 15 years, except for those households affected by a disaster that has been declared by an Executive Order of the President or Governor. Eligible applicant(s) will be assisted based on funding availability. Applicant(s) will be selected on a first-qualified, first-served basis.

Funds Available: $300,000.00

The Rapid Re-Housing strategy offers a grant of up to $10,000.00 to the Very-Low- and Low-income homeless individuals as defined by F.S. 420.621 (5) residing in the City of Boynton Beach.  The type of assistance could include rental assistance, security deposits, and/or utility deposits.  The assistance will be provided directly to the housing provider and/or utility company on behalf of the applicant(s). The City’s Rapid Re-Housing strategy is for those individuals who are trying to further their employment opportunities so they can self-sustain after receiving permanent employment or long-term income such as social security or disability, which will help them maintain their housing for the long term. Eligible households are limited to assistance once per lifetime. Eligible applicant(s) will be assisted based on funding availability. Applicant(s) will be selected on a first-qualified, first-served basis.

Funds Available: $300,000.00
