Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Microenterprise Assistance Program

The grant is designed to support microenterprisees in Boynton Beach by providing financial assistance that directly leads to job creation. This program is aimed at microenterprisees—defined as businesses with five or fewer employees—that are either located in low-to-moderate income (LMI) areas or owned by LMI individuals. By expanding access to capital, this initiative aligns with the national objective of the CDBG program by generating employment opportunities for LMI residents and strengthening local businesses.

Program Funding Options:

Eligible microenterprisees may receive up to $10,000 for approved business expenses, plus $2,500 per new job created for LMI employees, up to four positions, for a maximum grant of $20,000 per business. Businesses must create at least one new position to qualify for funding.

Job Creation Requirement

Businesses receiving funding must make a reasonable effort to hire LMI individuals for newly created positions. If a business demonstrates that no LMI applicants applied despite reasonable outreach efforts, they may still qualify for the grant. Acceptable outreach efforts may include:

Advertising job openings through workforce development organizations, job boards, and community networks targeting LMI individuals.
Maintaining records of recruitment efforts, including job postings and applicant responses.
Providing documentation of interviews conducted and reasons for selection.

Boynton Beach Small Business Grants provide essential funding opportunities for locally owned and operated businesses within the city limits. Supporting our small businesses is vital to ensuring they thrive, contributing to a stronger local economy and a vibrant community

Eligibility Requirements

Business must be located within the City of Boynton Beach city limits
Must be properly licensed by all necessary levels of government and professional associations or agencies
Applicant must be a for-profit privately held business. Non-profit organizations are NOT eligible for funding through this program.
Business must have between 1 and 25 employees
Business must have at least one full year of operation before becoming eligible for a grant.
Business must be located outside the Boynton Beach CRA (Community Redevelopment Agency) Districts

Valid ID: Scanned copy of the front of the business owner’s driver’s license or state identification card
Boynton Beach Business Tax Receipt
Sunbiz Registration: Must show active status.
Fictitious Name Registration - if Applicable
Signed W9 of your Business
2023 Individual (include Schedule C) or Corporate Tax Return

All grants operate on a Reimbursement basis: The applicant must pay for all project costs before the City issues grant funds. Grant funds will be reimbursed exclusively for approved eligible uses.

Medical Research Centers/Housing
Massage/Personal Services
Religion Affiliated Retail Stores
Non-profit Organizations
Adult Gambling Arcades
Check Cashing Stores
Alcohol and/or Drug Rehabilitation Centers/Housing
Vapor/E-Cigarette Stores
Adult Entertainment
Political offices, campaign headquarters, or other businesses focused on politics or political operations
Real Estate
CBD Retail Stores

Applicants will be processed and reviewed by the grant review task force for awarding. Applicants who have a complete application, which includes all of the required supporting documentation, and are deemed eligible are considered qualified. Applications that are deemed incomplete due to missing documentation will not be reviewed. Applicants who do not meet the eligibility criteria will be denied.
