Microenterprise Assistance Program
This program is designed for microenterprises, defined as businesses with five or fewer employees, including the owner. To qualify, businesses must meet at least one of the following criteria:
- Majority Business Owner must be a low-to-moderate income (LMI) individual (households with an annual income at or below 80% of the Area Median Income)

- Business must be located in an LMI-designated area within the City of Boynton Beach

All Eligible Businesses need the following as well:
- Must be located in the City of Boynton Beach city limits
- Business must have 5 or fewer employees (Including the owner)
- Must be a for-profit, privately held business.
- Business must be properly licensed by all necessary levels of government and professional associations or agencies
- Business must have a dedicated physical commercial location
- Business must have at least one full year of operation before becoming eligible for a grant.
- Business must not have received a City of Boynton Beach grant in the past two years.
How Much Funding Is Available
Eligible microenterprises may receive up to $25,000 per business, structured as follows:
- Up to $20,000 for approved business expenses
- $2,500 for each new job created for a low-to-moderate income (LMI) employee
How Grant Funds Can Be Used
Grant funds are intended to support microenterprise stability, growth, and job retention through strategic business investments that strengthen operations and expand capacity.
Funds may be used to:
- Business Facade Improvements
- Supporting employee training, upskilling, and professional development initiatives that strengthen business operations and long-term growth
- Business Equipment/Inventory
- Rent or Lease Payments
Eligible uses are determined in accordance with CDBG guidelines and may be updated as program parameters evolve.

Boynton Beach Small Business Grants provide essential funding opportunities for locally owned and operated businesses within the city limits. Supporting our small businesses is vital to ensuring they thrive, contributing to a stronger local economy and a vibrant community
Eligibility Requirements
- Business must be located within the City of Boynton Beach city limits
- Must be properly licensed by all necessary levels of government and professional associations or agencies
- Applicant must be a for-profit privately held business. Non-profit organizations are NOT eligible for funding through this program.
- Small Business must have between 1 and 25 employees; Microenterprises must have up to 5 employees.
- Business must have at least one full year of operation before becoming eligible for a grant.
- For the Small Business Grants, business must be located outside the Boynton Beach CRA (Community Redevelopment Agency) Districts

Mandatory Documents for the grants:
- Valid ID: Scanned copy of the front of the business owner’s driver’s license or state identification card
- Boynton Beach Business Tax Receipt
- Sunbiz Registration: Must show active status.
- Fictitious Name Registration - if Applicable
- Signed W9 of your Business
- 2024 Individual (include Schedule C) or Corporate Tax Return
All grants operate on a Reimbursement basis: The applicant must pay for all project costs before the City issues grant funds. Grant funds will be reimbursed exclusively for approved eligible uses.
Non eligible business
The following businesses are considered ineligible for assistance:
- Adult Entertainment / Gambling Arcades
- Alcohol and/or Drug Rehabilitation Centers/Housing
- Body piercing or body art shops
- Businesses that operate primarily from a residence, virtual address, or shared residential space.
- CBD Retail Stores
- Check Cashing Stores / Pawn Shops
- Corporate Owned Franchises
- Firearm Sales/Shooting Ranges
- Insurance companies
- Liquor stores
- Medical Research Centers/Housing
- Massage/Personal Services
- Non-profit Organizations
- Political offices, campaign headquarters, or other businesses focused on politics or political operations
- Private lending offices
- Real Estate
- Religion Affiliated Retail Stores
- Vapor/E-Cigarette Stores
- Other businesses that may be deemed ineligible based on information submitted by the applicant.
Applicants will be processed and reviewed by the grant review task force for awarding. Applicants who have a complete application, which includes all of the required supporting documentation, and are deemed eligible are considered qualified. Applications that are deemed incomplete due to missing documentation will not be reviewed. Applicants who do not meet the eligibility criteria will be denied.

Marketing Grant
Grant funding available per applicant is up to $2,500.
Goal: This grant is to help local small businesses improve the quality and effectiveness of their marketing to help reach a broader market.
Eligible Uses:
- Development of a marketing/social media plan
- Design of marketing materials and content
- Website design
- Web promotions (e.g. Facebook ads)
- Print and TV advertisements
- Social media development and assistance
- Marketing consultants
- Brand and logo design
