To celebrate Autism Awareness and Acceptance Month (April), the City of Boynton Beach, in partnership with FAU Center for Autism and Related Disabilities (CARD), is hosting an Art & Autism Expo at the Boynton Beach Arts & Cultural Center in Downtown Boynton (125 E. Ocean Ave.). This free exhibit features a variety of artwork by 23 individuals with autism, many pieces of which are available for sale. On Wed., April 12 (5-7 pm), the community is invited to meet these artists at a Meet the Artist Event. Complimentary refreshments such as specialty coffee, hot chocolate, pastries and chocolates will be provided by The Chocolate Spectrum, a local family-owned-and-operated artisan chocolate company that trains and employs individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities. An ASL interpreter will be provided.
Artists include Adam Flasterstein, Alesha Grossman, Alexander Benemio, Andrew Blitman, Carmen Rivera, Dante M. Gisiane, Darrell Wilkes, Derek Rhoades-DiLiberti, Indiana Crehan, Jaimie Rodriguez, Joseph Haim, Joseph Michael Vidal, Keith's Art World, Kiora Slate Layla Crehan, Margie-Lee Rodriguez, Max Zengage, Michael Martin, Ollie Gasparini, Rachael Buchalter, Ryan Betesh, Sean McGovern and Sophie De Souza Lima.
“We are very excited to provide such a wonderful opportunity for these amazing artists to showcase their work in a gallery space,” said Stephanie Soplop, the City’s ADA (Title II) Coordinator.
Exhibit sponsors include FAU Card, the City of Boynton Beach, BoyntonArts, The Flasterstein Family and The Chocolate Spectrum.
