The event will kick off an exhibition, which will be open from March 18 to April 29 and will showcase a diverse array of fine art works.

On Saturday, residents will be able to meet Palm Beach County artists Eddie Mendieta and Craig McInnis, who were chosen by Boynton Beach residents and the Boynton Beach Art Advisory Board to propose two murals for the City of Boynton Beach. At the reception, Mendieta and McInnis will unveil prototypes for their proposed murals, which they will paint, if approved, on the south wall of the racquetball court at Sara Sims Park and on a business at North Federal Highway and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Boynton Beach. The reception and exhibition are free and open to the public.

“The Unity Project Art Exhibition, curated by Eddie Mendieta and Craig McInnis, aims to honor the city's past while celebrating its future,” Arts & Cultural Center Director Craig Clark said. “It will be a significant cultural event, showcasing the talent of local artists while fostering a sense of community and inclusivity.”

The Unity Project is a collaborative effort between the City of Boynton Beach, the Heart of Boynton community, other Boynton Beach residents and local artists created to bring awareness to the 100-year period since the passage of ordinance 37, which mandated residential racial segregation in Boynton Beach. It features community events, murals and historic markers that honor individuals, places and events from the passage of the ordinance in 1924 through the present. The project has received support from grants provided by the City of Boynton Beach, the Mellon Foundation, the State of Florida, South Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts.

The exhibition will be open to the public during gallery hours, which are 10 a.m.- 8 p.m. Monday to Friday and 9 a.m.- 2 p.m. Saturday at the Arts & Cultural Center; 125 E. Ocean Ave., Boynton Beach.
