FL Boynton Beach Logo

The free event will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 27 at Centennial Park and Amphitheatre, 120 E. Ocean Ave., Boynton Beach.

It will feature music, art, live performances, food and vendors, as well as bounce houses, crafts, face-painting and bubbles for children. Cande Rivers and Frequency will be the headlining band. The project is a collaborative effort among the City of Boynton Beach, the Heart of Boynton Community and local artists.

Attendees are encouraged to stop by the Arts & Cultural Center, adjacent to Centennial Park, to see the Unity gallery exhibition featuring the work of artists Eduardo Mendieta and Craig McInnis, who were chosen to create two murals on Boynton Beach buildings as part of the Unity Project.

There will also be a pop-up exhibition from local artist Clyde Harris, 82, that will include replicas of a slave ship and segregated Boynton Beach neighborhoods in the 1950’s, as well as photos and other artwork. Attendees are encouraged to speak to Harris about what life was like in Boynton Beach when he was a child.

The Unity Project has featured community events, murals and historic markers that honor individuals, places and events from the passage of the ordinance in 1924 through the present. The project has received support from grants provided by the City of Boynton Beach, the Mellon Foundation, the State of Florida and South Arts.
