In recognition of National Energy Efficiency Day (EE Day) on October 5, the City of Boynton Beach announced improvements to their Energy Edge Rebate program. Residents and small businesses can now obtain rebates of up to $1,500 on qualifying home or business energy improvements – up from the $1,000 originally allocated.
The City’s original Energy Edge Rebate Program was established in 2014 and has incentivized property owners to make energy efficient improvements. Since the program’s inception, Energy Edge has provided more than $50,000 in rebates using funds collected through a Green Building Fee that is paid at the time a building construction permit is issued. Both small businesses and residents located within Boynton Beach City limits are eligible for the program.
The updated program parameters provide rebates for two additional categories of energy-saving improvements, including:
• Solar photovoltaic (PV) systems: $1,500 rebate on systems 5 kW or larger with ≥ 17.5% efficiency that are completed by a certified solar contractor
• Electric vehicle supply equipment: 50% rebate up to $1,000 on a Level 1 or 2 system
