City Offers Utility Bill Assistance to Furloughed Workers

While the partial federal government shutdown is in effect, the City of Boynton Beach will defer water, wastewater, reclaimed water, irrigation water, stormwater, and solid waste fees and waive any associated late fees for residents that are affected. In addition, water will not be disconnected during the furlough for these residents. Individual customers will be provided a 60 day grace-period once the furlough ends.

“The City of Boynton Beach understands that this is a difficult time for furloughed workers in our community and that the impact on their families is significant,” indicated City Manager Lori LaVerriere, “We are committed to assisting our residents during this time.”

To qualify, federal employees must live in the City of Boynton Beach and provide a pay stub or letter from their employer stating they are furloughed. For more information, call the Utilities Department at 561-742-6400 to arrange for a three-month deferral and subsequent payment plan.
