On Friday, July 13 at 9 am, the City of Boynton Beach will celebrate the recent installation of a new, accessible EZ Kayak Launch at Harvey E. Oyer Jr. Park (2010 N. Federal Hwy). The public is invited and will have the opportunity to utilize the launch and take a brief kayak tour on the Intracoastal.
The EZ Kayak Launch provides independent access to the water for kayakers with mobility disabilities. The total cost for the purchase and installation of the EZ Kayak Launch was $58,870. The City received $28,500 through a Florida Department of Environmental Protection - Recreational Trails Grant. The balance was paid through the Park Impact Fund.
“Boynton Beach is an inclusive city, and we continuously work to ensure equal access to our parks,” according to Wally Majors, Director of Parks and Recreation. “We are thrilled that boaters of all abilities will now have access to enjoy Boynton Beach’s beautiful waterways.”
The kayak launch is open daily, and is free to utilize; a $10 daily parking fee is required to park on holidays and weekends. Parking is complimentary on weekdays. For more information, contact Wally Major at 561-742-6380 or email@example.com.
