What is Summer Reading?
Summer Reading is a public library initiative that encourages young readers to grow their imaginations and exercise their minds by continuing to read through the summer.
What is the Summer Reading Kick-Off?
Our Summer Reading Kick-Off Party will be held Saturday, June 5 from 10 a..m. to 1 p.m. at the green space located outside City Hall. This is the perfect opportunity to register for summer reading and learn about all the fun activities and prizes planned throughout the summer! Come out to play fun games like GIANT Connect-4, bean bag toss, and mega bubbles, decorate a fish for our display, or make a Summer Reading pin. Additionally, anyone who registers for Summer Reading will get a FREE Kona Ice treat!
How do I register?
Beginning June 5 at 9 a.m., just fill out the form here! You can also register over the phone or in person. Don’t forget to stop by the Youth Library service desk to collect your book log and goodie bag! Registration will close on August 4 at 7 p.m.
Why should I register?
Everyone who registers for Summer Reading and tracks the books they read from June 5 - August 4 can win prizes! Registering for Summer Reading also helps the library learn more about the needs of our youth and teen patrons.
Who can register?
Summer Reading is for children (5-12 years) and teens (13-17 years). Parents can register for their “pre-readers”, too-- just track the books you read together!
How do I track the books I read?
Pick up a paper book log at the Youth Library service desk, or use any notebook or paper you like! Don’t forget to bring your book log to the library to collect your prize on or after Aug. 5.
