3D printing is a type of additive manufacturing that creatives a physical object from a digital file. A 3D printer works by melting the material (usually a type of plastic, we use PLA) and then layering it onto the build platform until the object is complete.

3D printing costs $.10 cents per gram. Finished object is weighed along with any printed supports.

There are 2 ways to print at the Boynton Beach City Library.

  1. You can Submit a 3D file (stl file type) for printing. The file is evaluated by staff and scheduled to be printed. Once the print is completed, the object is weighed to determine the final price. The patron is informed via email along the way.
  2. Make an appointment to learn more about the 3D printing process. File may not be printed during appointment time, as 3D printing can be a long process.
