Custodial history: Possibly the papers of John "Jack" Martin Tuite (1918-2006) and Mabel Rousseau Tuite (1913-1992).

COLLECTION DESCRIPTION

Scope and content note: Chiefly a small amount of material from several local organizations associated with these families’ involvement with several local organizations, including the Boynton Beach chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, Boynton Beach Boy Scouts of America, Boynton Beach Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Boynton Beach Book Club, Boynton Beach Freemasons, Veterans of Foreign Wars in Boynton Beach, Boynton Woman’s Club, Boynton Beach Historical Society, Lion’s Club, First Methodist Church in Boynton Beach, and Whitcomb Gun Club. 

Biographical note:  John “Jack” Tuite was one of the first paid Boynton Beach firemen in 1953 and later became the first paid Fire Chief in 1959. He also worked in the Palm Beach Police and Sheriff’s departments. His wife, Mabel Rousseau, was a teacher at in Boynton Beach for 37 years.
