Biographical  note: Dr. Nathaniel Marion Weems Sr. (1898-1978) came to Boynton Beach in 1925 and established a medical practice. (He was the second physician to set up practice in the community, the first being Dr. Owen Baird Van Epps in 1915.) In 1935, Weems Clinic was opened. In 1947, his wife Truly Fain died and he remarried Margaret Dudley. In 1962, his son, Dr. N. Marion Weems Jr., took over his medical practice; Weems continued to work at Bethesda Memorial Hospital until he retired in 1971. Dr. Weems proudly stated that he delivered 7,500 babies, and never turned away a patient for lack of money or the color of their skin. The Boynton police complex built in 1972 was named in his honor.
