COLLECTION DESCRIPTION
Historical Note: The Junior Woman’s Club was associated with the Boynton Woman’s Club, which is a member of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs-Florida. The Junior Woman’s Club apparently sporadically existed between 1930 and 1992; the exact dates are unknown. It existed in 1930; the 1941 yearbook noted that it had been recently re-organized; a 3 Dec 1952 newspaper article announced the group was forming; letters were sent out in 1986 announcing Junior Woman’s Club being organized. Activities included meetings, dances, and other events. A main goal of the organization was fundraising for various charities. It also sponsored the Miss Boynton Beach pageant (1964-c1976).
Scope and Content Note: Incomplete administrative records, including meeting minutes, financial reports; publications, including event programs, yearbooks, and newsletters. A significant amount of this material concerns the Miss Boynton Beach Pageant, which the Junior Woman’s Club sponsored and directed for many years (1964-c1976), including photographs, scrapbooks.
General note: Collection includes audiotape; BBCL does not offer a means to view this material at this time.
