Unveiling of " Community Heartbeat"

Artist Lynn Doyal was selected from the Art in Public Places Emerging Public Artists Program and commissioned to create an artwork that reflects the Fire Department’s Culture and Pride while building strong community relationships.
 

After many months of research and becoming familiar with the Boynton Beach Fire Rescue Department’s culture and operations, she discovered the department's services are not just about fighting fires as the public may perceive. Lynn discovered that the department is comprised of men and women of all ethnicities and races serving as one. Their fundraising and education efforts are centered on benefiting the community. BBFR has the ability to respond to “out of the ordinary” calls that require specialized equipment and training – collectively called Technical Rescue. Fire Rescue staff take pride in their identity as firefighters AND as members of specific groups and/or stations within the department.

Lynn’s concept for the window treatment that will be applied as a semi-transparent vinyl on the main lobby windows is called the “Community Heartbeat”. The meaning of this title expresses the level of involvement of The Boynton Beach Fire Rescue Department dedicated, makes them the heartbeat of the community. Culture and pride while building strong community relationships is shown through four distinct initiatives, Diversity, Integrity Stewardship, and Creativity.

Lynn will transform visuals using her unique style of stitching and beading paintings have the canvases photographed and transferred to film and installed on the Fire Rescue lobby windows.
