On May 10, 2021, the US Department of Treasury announced the launch of the Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds established by the American Rescue Plan (ARPA), which was signed into law on March 11, 2021. The ARPA will deliver $350 billion for eligible state, local, territorial, and Tribal governments to respond to the COVID-19 emergency. These funds can be used to respond to acute pandemic response needs, fill revenue shortfalls among local governments, and support the communities and populations hardest-hit by the COVID-19 public crisis. Eligible uses must be in response to the disease itself or the harmful consequences of the economic disruptions resulting from, or exacerbated by, the COVID-19 public health emergency.
The City of Boynton Beach will receive a total of $13,647,904.00 in two tranches, receiving our first deposit of $6,823,952.00 on May 19,2021. The U.S. Treasury Department has stressed the importance for government units to ASSESS and IDENTIFY the greatest needs, and to provide services either directly or through existing evidence-based programs.
