Palm Beach County Regulatory Climate Workshop Prepared by the Palm Beach County Regulatory Climate Committee May 11, 2010
Background
The Regulatory Climate Committee (RCC) was established in response to the 2009 Market Street Study conducted by the Economic Council of Palm Beach County. The Committee was charged with identifying constraints and presenting opportunities as it pertains to the regulatory application and review process in order to improve business development and economic growth within Palm Beach County. The Committee’s goals are to:
- Understand the effects of the Regulatory Review Process on business development, both in the public and private sector;
- Identify the best application and review practices in the public and private sectors;
- Improve communication between the public and private sectors.
In an effort to first understand the development process and regulatory management in the municipalities and unincorporated Palm Beach County, the RCC conducted public/private interviews of local experts in both the public and private sector.
The goal of the interviews was to identify best practices in the community and understand where problems in the review process are occurring; ultimately suggesting improvements and solutions in the overall development process for both sectors.
This exercise was not intended to highlight any specific negative experiences, but to help achieve an understanding in Palm Beach County about how the community can collectively improve business and service, on both the public and private sides of the review process.
