MURALS TO BEAUTIFY DUMPSTERS IN BOYNTON BEACH

Businesses, educational and religious organizations and other commercial trash customers, including multi-unit residential complexes located within the Boynton Beach Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) district may have their exposed dumpsters enhanced through a unique design initiative developed by the Boynton Beach Community Redevelopment Agency in partnership with the City's Art in Public Places Program and the Public Works Department. The "Postcards from Boynton" project will upgrade dumpsters, replacing them with new dumpsters painted by artists. The artists will paint that murals incorporate an Old Florida theme with such elements including native flora, fauna and wildlife; marine life; and sunrises and sunsets.

A five-person committee, comprised of CRA and City staff, an Arts Commission member and a member of the business community in the CRA district, will select the dumpster locations. Committee members will give preference to dumpsters that are located in highly visible public areas. They will also select the visual mural concept that will be painted on the dumpsters from proposals that were submitted earlier by artists in response to a "Call to Artists.".

A limited number of dumpsters are available for this project, so commercial trash customers who wish to have their location considered should submit an application form as soon as possible.

Download Dumpster Application form (90 kb PDF). The form is also available at  www.boyntonbeachcra.com or by calling (561) 742 6026. There is no charge to participate.

To determine if your location is within the CRA district, you may log on to the CRA website, www.boyntonbeachcra.com, or call (561) 732-3256. For more information about "Postcards from Boynton," call 742-6026.
