Children Enrolled in Camp Commit2BFit

During the week of June 7, children enrolled in the City of Boynton Beach Recreation and Parks Department’s Gymnastics-Jazzerkamp made a commitment to fitness.  Jazzercise instructor Cathy Albanese, who recently participated in the 2010 Mayor’s Commit2BFit Challenge, taught the children about staying fit, exercising and eating the right foods.  The children learned about the Mayor’s Challenge and wrote letters to Mayor Jose Rodriguez pledging to stay healthy and active this summer.

Mayor Rodriguez joined the children during the program to talk with them about fitness and staying in shape.  He read letters that the children wrote about their commitment to fitness.  Mayor Rodriguez challenged people of all ages this winter and spring to Commit2BFit.  His goal is to make Boynton Beach a healthier, more vibrant community.

The Commit2BFit program is part of a community service project in which Mayor Rodriguez participated through the 2009 Leadership Palm Beach County program. City employees and the children in the City’s Kids Club afterschool programs signed on to commit themselves to fitness and healthy nutrition during a nine week program. The program was created to prevent childhood obesity, and to recognize communities that are committed to creating and maintaining an environment supportive of active living and healthy eating.  Boynton Beach became a Commit2BFit city and is encouraging people of all ages to join in to become fit and healthy!
