Mayor Hay Signs Regional Climate Compact Pledge

On Friday December 7, 2012 at the 4th Annual Southeast Florida Regional Climate Leadership Summit, Mayor Woodrow Hay of the City of Boynton Beach signed the Mayors’ Climate Action Pledge in Jupiter, Florida along with several other Mayors from across the four counties of Monroe, Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach.

The Mayors’ Climate Action Pledge affirms support from municipalities for the Southeast Regional Climate Change Compact and is an agreement to consider implementing the Regional Climate Action Plan in whole or in part as appropriate for each municipality, urging all the Mayors of all four counties to support the Mayors’ Climate Action Pledge.

The Boynton Beach City Commission unanimously agreed to support the Mayors’ Climate Action Pledge at their December 4, 2012 City Commission meeting and Mayor Woodrow Hay attended the Mayors’ Climate Action Pledge Signing Ceremony on behalf of the City Commission.

The Southeast Florida Regional Compact Climate Change Action Plan is a regional framework for effective collaboration of counties and municipalities throughout southeast Florida to achieve sustainability and provide for economic and environmental resilience.  The Action Plan now serves as the foundation document of Climate Resilience Planning as part of the seven county Prosperity Plan in support for economic development.
