Boynton Beach's Recreation and Parks Department will inspire patrons to create lifetime memories and provide healthy indoor and outdoor recreation experiences while preserving the history of the community and embracing its future. The Department will conduct its recreation programs and preserve and maintain parks, open spaces and facilities and contribute to the economic development, environmental sustainability and social well-being of our broad community while making life fun for all citizens.

Who We Are:
The City of Boynton Beach Recreation & Parks Department maintains and operates more than 38 sites for recreational use. At the head of the Department is the Director who reports to the Assistant City Manager. The City Commission appoints a Recreation & Park Board of 7 members and 2 alternates. The Board meets monthly providing valuable citizen input to the department's management. Board members are appointed to three-year terms.
Nationally Accredited: On October 10, 2006, the Boynton Beach 
Recreation and Parks Department became one of only sixty-six agencies in the country to have received national accreditation from the Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies. This distinguished accomplishment was announced in Seattle, WA at the National Recreation and Park Association Annual Congress.
The Department is one of less than 20 agencies in the State of Florida to have gone through the process and received national accreditation. We are proud to have accomplished this rigorous goal, which clearly demonstrates our commitment "to deliver high quality recreation and parks services in the most efficient and effective manner possible." Our Service Area: The Department serves 65,000 residents of Boynton Beach, as well as thousands of county residents, seasonal residents and visitors to the city each year.
Our Facilities: The Department operates 8 recreation centers, 29 parks, one swimming pool, the municipal beach, hundreds of youth, teen, adult and senior programs and a core volunteer program with 70 volunteers. Professional, dedicated staff members manage the year-round recreation programs and activities and maintain parks and open spaces for the enjoyment of people of all ages and abilities.
Strategic Plan: While it is difficult to place a precise value on our parks and open space systems, it is clear that they provide a variety of benefits that contribute to the "livability" of our city. The Recreation and Parks Department is in the process of updating its Strategic Plan. More information will be available soon.
