This sculpture was made of recycled material.
I made a paper pattern and went to the "iron work company" and asked them if I would be allowed to use their waste pieces of steel. I pinned my pattern pieces and joined them to create my sculpture. Every nation and tribe has its widely held myths and mythologies. Among these basic and seemingly timeless beliefs or explanations is the concept of people's relationship to their environment – as "The Visionaries" (for transforming ecological communities). The primacy of the unit of the family is the building block of our society. The center of this relationship is man and woman within the family. It is this particular theme that is epitomized in "The Visionaries." I have chosen man and woman for the inspiration of my sculpture. I have used my own medium to show man and woman walking tall in the world, with confidence, optimism and strength. They show a caring relationship between themselves and the environment around them. |
