An abstract bear maintaining an impossible balance on top of a stainless steel form. The bear within the sculpture is not white or silver like a polar bear but is rusty red color. The idea came after watching coverage on TV and reading magazine articles that focused on polar ice caps melting away.  These images of a lone bear stranded on a small iceberg separated from everything. gave me the idea of balance during troubled times.  "Point Defiance" address the issue of balance and how to approach the issue of global warming (some are trying to help stop or slow the drastic change in our environment while others are opposing the fact the there is even an issue).
