Dana Cook is a local artist and Arts Commission board member who is colorblind. He will speak about his experience when creating his artwork and give examples of how he translates color. Learn how colorblind individuals cope and supersede their disability to contribute to the arts and culture.

Meet the Arts Commission the advisory board for the City’s Art in Public Places Program.
January 11, 2010 Deborah Pollack Presents Laura Woodward The artist behind the Innovator who Developed Palm Beach
Deborah Pollack will tell the untold story of Laura Woodward, how she influenced Henry Flagler to develop Palm Beach and the significance of her work. As a naturalist and woman artist in the late 1800's, early 1900's, Ms Woodward documented history painting plain air in the Florida wilder-ness. The story demonstrates how Laura impacted the development of South Florida
and how her early dedication to her art pioneered the way for women artists throughout history. An exhibit of Laura Woodward will be on display in the City Library December 2009 to June 2010. Following Deborah's presentation, on January 11, 2010 the public can view the exhibit, meet Mrs. Pollack and purchase her book.
December 21, 2009 - CANCELLED Young Artist Celebration Art Center presents young artists exhibit The City of Boynton Beach Art Center is an incubator to encourage and cultivate young artists. See the results of this program and meet the young artists that created the art-work. Pick up some last minute gifts or one for yourself. The paintings, sculptures, mix media artwork and all occasion cards will be available to purchase.
November 16, 2009 Artists of Palm Beach County Closing reception and artist presentations The Artists of Palm Beach County will host a closing reception for their exhibit in the City Library. The exhibit began in June 2009 and will end in December 2009. Artists will speak about their artwork and literary artists will recite poetry and spoken word. Learn about this organization and how they influence Palm Beach County.
Monday, October19, 2009 "The Art of Filmmaking"
Gary Davis teaches the City of Boynton Beach Youth Violence Prevention Program youth the "Art of Filmmaking." They learn how to be independent producers of movies, interviews, commercials and documentaries by focusing on the creative process. The technical is easy because the students do it along with the creative process. By focusing on creating, the youth empower their lives and express themselves through the "Art of Filmmaking." Gary will have his students present their production pieces and explain the process and the expression of the art.
