HOST City of Boynton Beach Art In Public Places

PURPOSE
The City of Boynton Beach Art in Public Places program is hosting exhibitions that showcase artwork by emerging and professional artists encompassing a variety of mediums. A new facility in Boynton Beach called the Carolyn Sims Center at Wilson Park has made available its interior space to feature original artwork that will link artists with the community and provide the public with an opportunity to gain knowledge and appreciation of artistic excellence.

Hours Open: Monday through Friday 12 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Saturday 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

SIMS CENTER'S MISSION
The Sims Center at Wilson Park provides the citizens of Boynton Beach a safe, entertaining variety of activities and events that promote family unity and community uplift through social and instructional programs.

The Sims Center is the home of the "Eternal Vision" public art memorial that celebrates and commemorates Carolyn Sims. The center and memorial was named after Carolyn Sims in memory of her contribution to her community and service to the quality of life in Boynton Beach. Carolyn was a city employee for 41 years and a recipient of many honors and awards.

THEME
Artwork appealing to all ages that depicts tropical and ethnic diversity.

WALL SPACE
The Carolyn Sims Center is available to display on loan artwork in it's facility. Examples of the space available is listed below. Artwork does not have to be these exact sizes.

FIRST FLOOR
Lobby reception wall space 10'w x 6'd
Lobby wall space 8'w x 8'h
Multi purpose room 2 at 8'w x 5'h; 9'w x 6'h; 2 at 8'w x 7'h; 2 at 7'w x 7'h; 10'w x 7'h; 6'w x 5'h


SECOND FLOOR

PROGRAM SPECS

Artwork can be 2 dimensional or 3 dimensional and a variety of mediums.
Artwork should be ready for walls installation.
Artists to sign an on-loan agreement (see below)
AIPP will install artwork.
AIPP will provide a reception to launch exhibit.
AIPP will promote exhibit through print, online and public relations.
AIPP will promote exhibit artwork sales. 10% of sale dedicated to the AIPP program.
AIPP will provide identifying plaques for each artwork.

ARTWORK SELECTION
A committee will review the artwork images submitted and select artworks for exhibit in the Carolyn Sims Center.

ARTWORK PURCHASE BUDGET
A budget is established to purchase artwork for permanent display. The amount will cover a multitude of artwork purchases. The artwork that is selected will be purchased for the amount the artist submits as its cost. The cost is inclusive of all costs associated with the artwork including but not limited to the Artist's design fee, materials, fabrication and transportation. Artwork should be ready for installation on the walls.

WORK SAMPLES FOR VISUAL ARTS APPLICANTS

Submit images of artwork on CD and one color print of each artwork for purchase consideration.

Along with the images, submit the artwork name, size, material and maintenance requirements. Submit a brief biography of the artist, resume and contact information, including address, phone and email address.

Images, biography of the artist, resume and contact information, including address, phone and email address should be provided in the following digital formats:

On a CD provide minimum image dimensions minimum 4 inch, maximum 10 inch with
common aspect ratio sizes preferred. JPEG or PNG 150 DPI min, 300 DPI maximum. Save JPEG as maximum size. PDF file format is also acceptable. Number the images with artist name lastname.jpeg (smith1,jpg;smith2.jpg, etc.). Copy files can be provided as word document, rtf, or pages document file formats saved on the CD. Printed images can be made directly from computer or color copies.

All work samples should be clearly labeled with your name, telephone number, title of work and corresponding identification number.
