Avenue of the Arts 2009/10
The City of Boynton Beach Arts Commission invites you to display your artwork along the "Avenue of the Arts," which stretches for more than nine blocks in the City's downtown core. If selected, your work, will be publicly displayed on lighted pedestals and included in the promotion, advertising and marketing of the year long event.
Each artist whose work is selected will receive $1,000.00 per artwork to cover delivery and installation. The artist, will be responsible for the delivery, installation and loan of the artwork.
This year, the City of Boynton Beach Arts Commission would like to feature artwork that speaks to environmental issues, art that is made from recycled materials, calls attention to environmental issues or suggests environmental solutions. The artists may consider more than one artwork site to create a site-specific installation that addresses this subject. We encourage artists who facilitate environmental education, consult for environmental restoration and are visionaries for transforming ecological communities to participate.
The artwork pads are six foot square of concrete construction and vary in height depending upon location. Some are pavement level and others 16 - 30" high in landscaped areas. All pads have lighting that are timed to the existing streetlight system.
