Take Pride in Boynton Beach Photo Project
The City of Boynton Beach is involved in a growing number of projects that are depicted with photo galleries on Flickr.com, a photo-sharing site. The purpose of these projects is to engage citizens and encourage community pride by showcasing what makes Boynton Beach a unique place to live, work, play and learn.
We encourage the public to participate and submit your own photographs for any of our Flicker groups:
Here’s how:
- If you don’t have a free Flickr account, you will need to create one.
- Upload your photos to your account.
- Join the appropriate group, and upload your photos to that group’s pool. You can see our 2010 citizen-participation photo groups:
- Boynton Around Town – General themes and topics
- Go Green Boynton! – Demonstrates what individuals, businesses and organizations are doing to conserve resources and demonstrate environmental sustainability.
- Photos may be any size; Flickr will resize them without overwriting the original files.
- In the photo’s description:
- Share where the photo was taken.
- Tell us something about the photo to help us understand the context.
- Add a tag for the category so it’s easy for people to find pictures other than by looking at the group pools. Use quotation marks around multiple-word tags so Flickr doesn’t split them into several tags:
If you wish your photos to be considered for use in the City’s printed materials, television broadcasts, or websites, including the City’s social media sites, further tag them as follows:
- “BoyntonAroundTownweb”
- “Go Green Boyntonweb”
By publishing the photos in your own Flickr account, you control them and the comments they receive.
Feel free to …
- Submit color, black and white, or desaturated photos.
- Edit your photos however you like.
- Include a border (not required, though).
- Submit photos taken at any time.
- Submit composite photos, where you combine more than one photo into a collage. Collages should be of a single subject matter; i.e., do not combine images from BoyntonAroundTown with GoGreenBoynton images.
- Submit photos that you have published or used elsewhere, as long as you still own the copyright.
Do not submit photos that …
- You didn’t take, or for which someone else owns the copyright.
- Just show someone else’s copyrighted work (e.g., a photo of a painting).
- Serve mainly to advertise a product.
- Show nudity, drugs, violence or symbols or acts of hatred.
- Are illegal or prohibited.
- Violate Flickr’s community guidelines.\
By submitting your photos, you agree to all of the above. We reserve the right to disallow photos that violate City of Boynton Beach’s or Flickr’s usage guidelines; we’ll remove disapproved photos from the pool, but they will remain visible in your account.
