Green Community Alliance Workshop

Meeting To Feature Green Experts

Dr. Jennifer Languell, President of the Florida Green Building Coalition; Bill Lites, Chair of the FGBC's Green Development Standards Committee; and Robert Cannellos, Vice President of the South Florida Chapter of the United States Green Building Council, will be the featured speakers at a workshop hosted by the Boynton Beach Green Community Alliance on Mon., July 27, 2009, 6:00 P.M., at Intracoastal Park Clubhouse, 2240 N. Federal Hwy. The speakers will give informative presentations regarding Green Development Standards and Neighborhood Development Standards to educate Green Community Alliance members and the public. Dr. Languell holds a PhD in Sustainable Construction and is featured in the Discovery Channel's Project Earth series. Bill Lites, who specializes in Urban Community Planning and Design at the environmental group Glatting, Jackson in Orlando, is Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certified. Robert Cannellos, who is with the Spinnaker Group, is also LEED certified.

Department of Energy Awards $250,000 for Energy Efficiency Conservation Strategy


The City of Boynton Beach received $250,000 from the original $658,900 allotment from DOE to hire a consultant that will write an Energy Efficiency Conservation Strategy for the City, as well as complete the Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory and assist with the long-term Climate Action Plan.  On Oct. 6th the City Commission approved Camp Dresser & McKee (CDM) as the consultant for the project.  The remaining allotted funds have been awarded by the DOE for an energy effiency retrofit of the Ezell Hester Jr. Community Center
