Youth Programs

Hurricane Notice: Library Hours

The Library will close at 6:30pm on Tuesday, September 12, 2017.  

The following programs are available at the Boynton Beach City Library. Programs are free and open to the public. The Library is located at 208 S. Seacrest Blvd. For more information, the public is invited to call 561.742.6390.

Children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by a parent, guardian or chaperone at all times while in the Library. Groups of five (5) or more must pre-register.

Kids Activity Lab: Monday, September 11 & 25 @ 4:30—5:30 pm
Play board and videogames using a Wii, Wii U, PS3 or Xbox 360; or make wearable art with Rainbow Looms. Grades K—5. Room: YPR

Baby Storytime:  Tuesday, September 5, 12, 19 & 26 @ 10:30—11 am
Listen to stories and rhymes and sing songs that promote early literacy and development, while meeting other babies and parents. Ages Birth—24 months. Room: YSA

Lego® Club:  Tuesday,  September 5 @ 4—5 pm
Complete the Lego® build challenge or free build to test your creativity. School-age children encouraged, but a section of blocks for younger siblings will be available. Grades K—6. Room: YPR

Scratch Art:  Wednesday, September 6 @ 4:30—5:30 pm
Using special paper, make a unique creation by scratching out your design. Grades K—5. Room:  YPR

Family Storytime:  Wednesday, September 6, 13 & 20 @ 10—11 am
Listen to fun stories, sing silly songs and learn new fingerplays while making new friends at the Library. Ages Infants—5 years old. Room: YSA

Tween Tech Time:  Thursday, September 7 @ 5:30—6:30 pm
Middle school students, it’s your turn to experience the Virtual Zone. Bring your favorite books to make book reviews for BookTube or learn how to make beats on GarageBand. Grades 5—8. Room:  YSA 

Spin Art:  Thursday, September 14 @ 4:30—5:30 pm
Show off your artistic side using paint to make beautiful swirly masterpieces. Grades 2—8. Room:  YPR

Hispanic Heritage Month Snack:  Monday, September 18 @ 4:30—5:30 pm
Make and enjoy a snack and learn about Hispanic heritage and customs. Grades K—5. Room:  YPR

“Fall”ing Leaves:  Tuesday, September 19 @ 4:30—5:30 pm
Welcome the start of autumn by creating melted crayon leaves. Grades 2—6. Room:  YPR

Page Turners:  El Deafo, by Cece Bell Wednesday, September 20, 4:30-5:30 pm
When Cece was four years old, she got very sick and lost her hearing. This graphic novel describes Cece’s journey as she tries to make friends, learns how to lip read, uses her hearing aids and finally accepts herself. Register in Youth Services to get the book. Snacks will be provided. Grades 3—6. Room:  YPR
