City Library Card
Get a free library card by meeting any of the following qualifications:
- Live within the City limits of Boynton Beach at least three months of the year;
- Live in the unincorporated area of Palm Beach County at least three months of the year;
- Live in a city that cooperates with the Palm Beach County Library System or a city that has a reciprocal agreement with us (Delray Beach, Lake Park, Lantana, Lake Park, Lake Worth, North Palm Beach, Palm Springs, Riviera Beach or West Palm Beach);
- Are a student in the Palm Beach County Schools--elementary through high school;
- Possess an active Sunshine Library Card in good standing;
- Own a business or lease commercial property in the City limits of Boynton Beach; or
- Are an employee of the City of Boynton Beach.
How to apply
Apply in person to obtain a Boynton Beach City Library Card. Bring a current photo ID with your name and current address plus one other form of identification listed below with the matching current address. The Boynton Beach City Library Card is valid for one year. Renewal procedures are the same as obtaining a new card.
Residents of Highland Beach, City of Boca, Palm Beach, Manalapan or Gulf Stream may apply for a Non-Resident Card for a $30 fee.
Approved forms of identification:
Current photo ID with name and current address plus one of the following:
- Utility Bill
- Printed Checks
- Property Tax Bill
- Auto Registration
- Voter Registration Card
- State ID Card
Library Card for Youth through Age 17
Children must be able to print their own name and apply in person at the Library with a parent or legal guardian to obtain a Library Card. The parent or guardian must have the two forms of identification as outlined above. The parent or legal guardian assumes responsibility for all Library items lost, damaged or overdue
Adult Temporary Library Card
When an individual cannot produce a picture ID with their current address or any of the other approved forms of identification listed above, the individual is eligible to apply in person for a Temporary Library Card. The individual must bring a signed letter or legal document that verifies the individual’s address as a short term residency. The document could be a rental agreement or a signed letter from the property owner stating the address at which the applicant lives and the length of time of the residency. A Temporary Library Card is issued for the length of the short term residency or for a period not to exceed three months. A Temporary Library Card has restricted borrowing privileges which are: two (2) books, one (1) DVD and one (1) music CD.
Adult Computer Usage Card
A Boynton Beach City Library Card can be issued for computer use only. Apply in person with a photo ID. This card is valid for one year. No borrowing privileges are granted with the Adult Computer Usage Card.
Sunshine Library Card
The Sunshine Library Card allows reciprocal borrowing privileges between the Boynton Beach City Library, Florida Atlantic University, Palm Beach State College, Palm Beach County Library System and School District of Palm Beach County. Any individual 18 years or older, who has had a Boynton Beach City Library Card for one year and is in good standing, is eligible to apply for the Sunshine Library Card.
An individual who teaches in a school located in Palm Beach County and does not otherwise qualify for a Boynton Beach City Library Card is eligible to apply in person for a Boynton Beach City Library Teacher Card. The teacher must produce a picture ID with their current address, one of the other approved forms of identification listed above and show an employee identification card with their name and the name of the school. Borrowing privileges are restricted to books only with a limit of three (3) per subject.
An individual is eligible to apply for a Non-Resident Card for a $30 fee. The card is valid for one year. The individual must apply in person with a current photo ID with name and current address and one of the other approved forms of identification listed above with the matching current address
