Fire Chief Glenn JosephBBFRD Welcome’s new Fire Chief!

Boynton Beach Fire Rescue welcomes new fire chief, Glenn Joseph! Fire Chief Glenn Joseph was born in 1963 in Castries, St. Lucia. He immigrated to Florida at 13 and lived in Belle Glade for the next 4 years. He began his career in emergency services shortly after leaving college at JFK Ambulance, a subsidiary of JFK Hospital; he moved to Lantana Fire Rescue Services after JFK ambulance was sold to another private ambulance provider. In 1987, Glenn joined Boca Raton Fire Rescue Services as a firefighter paramedic.

Chief Joseph is a 29-year veteran of Boca Raton Fire Rescue Services. He has served as a firefighter, paramedic, hazardous materials technician, lieutenant, paramedic supervisor, acting division chief of the Training and Safety Division and as the Deputy Fire Chief since 2006. He was an adjunct instructor at South Technical Education Center in Boynton Beach between the years of 1988 to 1996, taught in the following areas: firefighting, fire safety inspector, emergency medical technician program, Basic Trauma Life Support, and hazardous materials.

Since 1994, Glenn has been a contract instructor for the National Fire Academy, a part of the U.S. Fire Administration; instructional areas include Chemistry for Emergency Response, Advance Life Support for Hazardous Materials Incidents, Hazardous Materials Operating Site Practices and Hazardous Materials Incident Management system. He co-authored the revision of the Advance Life Support for Hazardous Materials program for the National Fire Academy in 2014.

Chief Joseph also holds a fire service instructor III level certification with the State of Florida, he is also licensed as a registered nurse, paramedic, firefighter, hazardous materials technician, fire inspector, and fire investigator I. Glenn completed Executive Fire Officer Program at the National Fire Academy 2012 and in 2013, he received a Chief Fire Officer Designation from Commission on Professional Credentialing.

Academic achievements include an Associates in Science degree in General Business from Palm Beach Community College in 1981; an Associates in Science degree in Nursing in 1993; He also graduated from Palm Beach Atlantic University in 2001 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Organizational Management, and a 2004 graduate of Lynn University with a Masters of Science degree in Emergency Planning and Administration.
